Esri Joins iCERT
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 18, 2025) – The Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT) has announced that Esri, a global market leader in location intelligence and mapping, has joined iCERT. Founded in 1969, Esri has been a pioneer in developing geographic information systems (GIS) that are becoming indispensable tools for modern emergency response and disaster management. During an emergency, these GIS platforms are used to fuse disparate data sources—such as real-time satellite imagery, sensor data, road closures, building footprints, and demographics—into a single operational map, allowing first responders to gain improved situational awareness.
“GIS is critical to the future of emergency response,” said Don Brittingham, iCERT’s interim executive director. “Esri’s membership in iCERT is important to the organization’s ongoing efforts to drive continued innovations that will improve public safety.”
“Esri is committed to using science and technology to help make our communities safer,” said Brooks Shannon, Esri’s Director of Emergency Communications Solutions. “Our relationship with iCERT will help us collaborate with industry leaders in an effort to integrate GIS more deeply and effectively with emergency response systems.”
