A veteran leader in the public safety sector, Weston brings over 20 years of experience in Next Generation 911 (NG911) and a reputation for facilitating stakeholder engagement to drive consensus across complex technical and political landscapes.
Weston joins iCERT at a critical juncture as the organization accelerates its mission to modernize emergency communications through increased technological innovation and effective advocacy.
"Sara Weston is a bridge-builder whose career has been defined by her ability to develop and sustain partnerships across public safety, government, and private-sector organizations," said iCERT Board Chair Eric Hagerson. "Her unique ability to align diverse interests—from federal policy makers to local practitioners—makes her the ideal person to champion the interests of our members and the broader emergency response community."
A Proven Track Record of Collaboration. Weston joins iCERT following a career built on nurturing relationships across the public safety communications ecosystem. As the CEO of Sara Weston Consulting, LLC, she has been instrumental in shaping national 911 policy and advocating for critical technological advancements in emergency response, working with organizations like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s National 911 Program, the National Association of State 911 Administrators, and the NG911 Institute. As founder and executive director of 911der Women, Inc., Weston grew a professional network from inception to over 15,000 members in less than five years, demonstrating an unparalleled ability to engage and unite a national community toward a shared mission.
Vision for iCERT. Traditionally centered on 911, iCERT’s vision now encompasses the full spectrum of emergency response and public safety communications. This new strategic direction seeks to transform emergency response into an advanced, data-rich environment that improves public safety in every community. Executive Director Weston will spearhead this transition, fostering vital partnerships between the tech industry and the public safety community to ensure that innovation meets real-world needs.
"I have spent my career at the intersection of technology and public safety, and I have seen firsthand that progress only happens when we work together," said Weston. "I am thrilled to lead iCERT and look forward to collaborating with our industry partners to ensure that our industry remains a vital partner to the public safety community that depends on us.”
