A good friend to public safety is retiring. We wish him good health, long life, and every success in his next endeavors.


John Mondy Shimkus is an American politician currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 15th congressional district. Among his many accomplishments and tireless activities in support of 9-1-1, NG9-1-1, and all emergency services was his long-standing Co-Chair Position with the NG9-1-1 Caucus.



Office: Representative (R-IL 15th District) since 2013

Previous offices: Representative, IL 19th District (2003–2013), Representative (1997–2003)


He is a member of the Republican Party. On August 30, 2019, Shimkus announced that he will not seek re-election for his seat in 2020.
